SLL Launches Community Fund

01.02.2016

We take it for granted that we can take part in our favourite activity whenever we want to, but for many people this is not possible.  Medical conditions such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke or injuries can result in a sedentary lifestyle because exercise simply isn’t an option. We’re raising £53,000 to buy specialist equipment which will transform so many people’s lives. It will help them to socialise, prevent them from developing new medical problems linked to inactivity and improve their mental health. The new equipment will be based at Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre but will also benefit people from neighbouring towns. Help us to help your community and donate now: https://sll.charitycheckout.co.uk

WE WANT TO BUY:

A FES BIKE

A Functional Electrical Stimulation bike has electrodes which are attached to the users legs and deliver a mild electric current to stimulate muscles to contract and enable the legs to cycle.

ANTI-GRAVITY TREADMILL

Looks and works like a regular treadmill, the difference is that it supports the user and allows them to regain function and weight bear as tolerated by changing gravity in one percent increments to as low as 20% of the users body weight. The precise point at where the user is pain free can be set and allows an accurate measure of their progress.
