Zumbathon at Royston Leisure Centre

04.06.2017

On Saturday 3 June 2017, Royston Leisure Centre hosted a Zumbathon fundraising for SLL’s Community Fund to purchase specialist exercise equipment.

The Zumbathon lasted for two hours and was a fun-packed, energising afternoon. It was led by Instructors Eileen, Joanna and Pauline. Around 55 people attended the Zumbathon with a total of £204 being raised!

SLL Community Fund is a fundraising initiative raising money to purchase an Anti-Gravity Treadmill and a Functional Electronic Stimulation (FES) bike. This specialist equipment is based at Stevenage Lifestyles Gym, Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre and is an asset to hundreds of people who suffer from various health problems, allowing them to exercise pain free or independently with confidence to improve their fitness and mental health.

Usually, this type of equipment can only be accessed through a hospital, private physiotherapy or private sports clubs making it very expensive for the user, but, SLL is offering use of this equipment to all Exercise Referral Members (regardless of centre) or pay as you go. For more information or to find out about arranging a consultation, please contact Chris Tillbrook - Health and Wellbeing Consultant at Stevenage Lifestyles by email Chris.Tillbrook@sll.co.uk.

Thank you to every one at Royston Leisure Centre that took part in the Zumbathon!
