Band system TO be introduced for
pay as you go customers during 2023 season
SLL and North Herts Council will be introducing a band system for pay as you go customers at peak times during the 2023 season, at Hitchin and Letchworth Outdoor Pools.
The aim is to improve customer experience, by reducing long queues, relieving parking difficulties and allowing more people to take advantage of the pools on hot days and in the summer holidays.
The band system will be in place every day of the school summer holidays and also on hot weather days outside of the holidays. Outside of the holidays we will communicate when the system will be in place on the website and social media channels.
The wristband system works by assigning each visitor a coloured wristband. Each colour corresponds to a specific time slot, during which visitors are allowed to use the facility. This will ensure that the pools stay at a safe and comfortable capacity, and that more people will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor pools.

Why are you introducing a hot weather band system?
The purpose of introducing the hot weather band system is to ensure that the environment on very hot days at the pools continues to meet customer expectation and allows more of the local community to enjoy their visit.
The aim of implementing this system is to improve overall customer experience, by reducing the need for long queues, relieve parking difficulties and allow everyone to take their turn in the pools on hot days.
When will you implement the hot weather band system?
The band system will be introduced at peak times, during school holidays and on days when the temperature is forecast to be hot. Should the hot weather band system need to be implemented it will be communicated the day before on social media, website and at the centre.
The band system will be implemented from 9.00am on the designated days, allowing customers entry to the facility and time to enjoy the pool for a maximum of three hours.
Do fitness members holders need a band?
Fitness members will be provided with a band to allow them to gain access to the facility.
Do season ticket holders need a band?
Season ticket holders will be provided with a band to allow them to gain access to the facility and will not be time restricted.
Can I book a banded session in advance?
Whilst the hot weather band system is in place, pre-bookable spaces will not be available.
How long will I get in the facility/pool?
Each banded session will be for a maximum duration of three hours.
Can I re-enter the pool after my session if the pool isn’t at full capacity?
Should the pool not be at full capacity then customers would be able to rejoin the queue for the next sessions.
