Where is Skate Letchworth? 
Skate Letchworth is located at Letchworth Outdoor Pool, Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, Herts, SG6 4UF.

Is the Outdoor Pool frozen?
No. The Ice Rink is a fully covered temporary ice rink (25m x 12m) which is located on the terrace area at Letchworth Outdoor Pool.

Is the ice rink real ice?
Yes

Is parking available?
Parking is free for the first 2 hours at Norton Common (outdoor pool) car park and Bowls Club car park (ticket still required at both). Additional time can also be paid for. Overflow parking is also available at Hillshott (Howard Park).

Skate Letchworth is also located close to the town centre, therefore it is easily accessible via public transport such as the train and buses.

Is there somewhere to purchase food and drink?
The onsite café will be open, offering hot and cold drinks and snacks

Are you open every day?
Please keep an eye on our website for specific dates and times and for any amendments, but Skate Letchworth will be open as follows;

Term Time (18th November until 18th December)

  • Wednesday - Friday 4pm - 8pm
  • Saturday - Sunday 10am - 9pm

Holidays (19th December - 7th January)

  • Daily - 9am - 8pm 

Is there wheelchair access?
The site is wheelchair accessible. Please note: Wheelchair users must be accompanied on the ice by a competent skater who may skate free of charge

Are there toilets available?
Yes.

Are there any age restrictions at the Skate Letchworth?
The minimum age for skating on the ice rink is 4 years old. Skaters aged between 4 – 12 years must be accompanied by an adult (16+) on the ice. A ratio of 1 adult to 2 children will be accepted. Under 4s will not be allowed to skate. You can skate up to any age but please be aware of the health risks. Skating is not recommended for anyone with serious illness or heart conditions. Skating is also not recommended for pregnant women.

I am not an experienced skater – will there be help on hand?
Our team are available at all times to monitor and encourage safe skating and will assist where possible, however they do not provide tuition and our priority will be the safety of all users of the Ice Rink.

Can I bring my own skates?
Skate hire is included in the price of the tickets – however, if you prefer to bring your own skates then you are welcome to do so. There is no reduction in price if you bring your own skates.

How long will an ice skating session last?
Skating sessions last for 45 minutes with a further 15 minutes designated for shoe change. Please arrive at Skate Letchworth at least 15 minutes before your desired session to allow ample time to change shoes and get on the ice.

Is the Ice Rink all–weather?
The Ice Rink is covered and will be in operation in most weather conditions. We therefore urge you to dress appropriately. Wrap up warm with hats and gloves. Long skirts and long coats should not be worn on the ice rink for your own safety. Please note: there is very limited indoor waiting areas at the facility.

Is there a spectator area?
There is a small viewing area adjacent to the rink for spectators which can be accessed free of charge. Spectators are also welcome to visit the café.

I would like to have a party at Skate Letchworth, do you cater for parties and events?
We would love for you to hold your event at Skate Letchworth. We offer a group booking discount of 10% off for 10 or more skaters; please email enquiries.letchworth@sll.co.uk to discuss your requirements and to take advantage of this discount.

Can I book a skate aid in advance?
The free skate aids are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be booked in advance. We do not recommend the use of skate aids for those over 110cm tall. We advise those who wish to use a skate aid to arrive early to secure one. (Please note: we cannot guarantee the availability of the skate aids as there are only limited numbers available.)

Do I need to book in advance or can I turn up on the day?
We recommend that all sessions are pre-booked to avoid disappointment. If you would like to book advance tickets and guarantee your session time, then please use our online booking system.

Advance tickets must be booked online at least one day before your visit and cannot be purchased from reception.

I have booked online… what next?
You will receive an e-ticket via our ticketing platform to the email you supplied at the time of booking. Please print this ticket and bring it with you. Alternatively, you can download the ticket onto your smartphone and show this at the reception area.

If I cannot make it to my booked session, will I get a refund?
Unfortunately we cannot offer any refunds for non-attendance.

Can I change my booking?
Bookings cannot be amended after payment is confirmed. Please ensure that you are able to attend your chosen time slot.

Getting Here

Letchworth Outdoor Pool is a 9 minute walk from Letchworth Train Station. The bus route can be found here. Car parking is available next to the centre.
