07.10.2017

A ceremony took place at SLL’s North Herts Leisure Centre on Saturday 7 October to celebrate the completion of the redevelopments at the site.

The redevelopment includes a brand-new learner pool and refurbished wet changing areas, a brand-new studio and a new modernised café. Work was also undertaken on the car park, expanding it by 92 extra spaces.

The new facilities have allowed North Herts Leisure Centre to run an additional 82 swimming classes per week, teaching 562 more children than before. Also, 37 extra fitness classes have been added to the timetable, with the number of attendees increasing from around 4,600 to 5,427 per month.

Mr Robert Voss, Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the County of Hertfordshire, attended the ceremony, along with Councillors from North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) and representatives from SLL, to celebrate the improvements and tour the new-look centre. Speeches were made by Chairman of the Council, Cllr Alan Millard, Cllr Jane Gray, NHDC’s Executive Member for Leisure and Ian Morton, Managing Director of SLL and there was a ceremonial cutting of the cake.

Ian Morton, SLL’s Managing Director, added: “We are delighted to have worked with NHDC on completing this exciting new project, which will deliver even better facilities for the local community”.

Cllr Jane Gray, NHDC’s Executive Member for Leisure said:  “We are thrilled to mark the redevelopment of the North Herts Leisure Centre with this official ceremony and we hope users of the centre are as happy with the improved facilities on offer as we are.

For anyone who hasn't yet seen the transformation, please drop by and experience the newly refurbished leisure centre and all it has to offer.”
